How to Apply for Studnet Visa
|
There are seven basic steps to applying for a visa to study in Australia:
1. Obtain letter of acceptance from registered Australian educational institution.
Select an appropriate, registered course, apply to the institution, and receive
an acceptance letter or offer of enrolment.
2. Do IELTS English test. Arrange to sit for an International English
Language Test (IELTS) and receive a score that satisfies course and visa office
requirements. Send this with your application. You should sit the test well
before you plan to lodge your visa application.
3. Prepare financial records, or arrange a bank loan, showing sufficient
funds to study and live in Australia. If you are applying for a school,
higher education, ELICOS or non-award course, financial statements will need
to show sufficient funds held for at least 3 months prior to lodgement of your
visa application. For vocational education and training courses statements will
need to show funds held in an acceptable financial institution for at least
6 months. For Masters and PhD courses, only the current balance is required
but be aware that funds in your account must be consistent with proven annual
income.
4. Complete your student visa application for your program type. You
must provide originals and 1 set of photocopies of all required documents, including
your Year 10 & 12 results, other academic records, and your IELTS score.
Note: If you have an agent, he/she will help you complete and submit the
application. Applications should be lodged 12 weeks prior to the course commencement
date.
IF, after your application is lodged, you receive a Pre Visa Assessment letter,
this means you may go on to the next step.
5. Have a medical check-up (forms and list of approved doctors will
be sent by the Visa Office).
6. Pay your first semester's tuition fees and receive Confirmation of Enrolment
Letter.
7. Bring or send the confirmation of enrolment letter from the institution
you have applied to, and your passport, to the Visa Office. Then, once all
final documents are received, and if you meet all visa criteria, a visa will
be issued.
